KEY PILLARS IN BUILDING RESILIENCE OF LOCAL COMMUNITIES IN THE HORN OF AFRICA REGION SummaryStrengthening drought resilience requires a combination of building blocks, including political goodwill, policy, and institutional framework. Further, there is a need for main-streaming the resilience agenda into developing planning processes and efficient partnerships and coordination. These were some of the sentiments made by National Drought Management Authority (NDMA) CEO Mr. James Oduor while giving a keynote address during a meeting that brought together stakeholders from the Horn of Africa. USAID Kenya and East Africa organized the meeting through its Resilience Learning Activity (RLA) in pursuit of sharing lessons and forging the way forward in matters about resilience to shocks and disasters.
